In The Beginning
The Blues Hall of Fame Tribute FunRaiser (formerly Tribute Jam) was started in May of 2013 by Blues Music Award Winner & Voice Host of Bluesville on SiriusXM, BIGLLOU Johnson. It was his way of paying tribute to the blues men, women and music inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. That prestigious ceremony, always held the evening before the Blues Music Awards lacked just one element.. inductees performing their music live. Hence the Tribute Jam as born! At the time, The Blues Foundation was in throngs of a "building fund" drive for a new place to call home. This worthy cause became the first of many fundraising efforts that the "Blues After Party with a Purpose" would lend a helping hand to. None of this would have been possible without the support of the wonderful blues artists, fans, friends and sponsors who give of their time, talent and resources to make each event a success. Now celebrating 11 years of presenting the "Blues Party with a Purpose", BIGLLOU has now added the BLUES FEST KICKOFF PARTY - CHICAGO to his yearly FunRaising efforts towards keep'n the Blues Alive and serving the individuals, organizations and artists that perform the music.
